London Law Consortium

London Law Consortium Brochure

The College of Law has joined the London Law Consortium (LLC), which allows our students the opportunity to study law in London, England during the Spring Semester. There are five other law schools in the consortium: the University of Iowa College of Law (program administrator), the Chicago-Kent College of Law, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, the University of Kansas School of Law, and the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. UK first began participating in this program in 2011. This is the first such program in the history of the College of Law.

Although students at the College of Law may select from a wide variety of study abroad programs, the LLC program is unique in many respects. It will include other UK students and faculty, and courses completed in the LLC will be regular College of Law courses for credit. Although the curriculum will vary each year, students may in some years satisfy graduation requirements such as Professional Responsibility, the seminar/substantial writing requirement, and practical skills courses through LLC studies. The LLC is now in its fourth year at UK, and each year we have returning students and faculty who can offer perspectives and advice on the program.

“I am very proud of our law school’s participation in the well-established study abroad program in London, England," said David A. Brennen, Dean and Professor of Law. "This initiative sends a clear signal to applicants and others that UK College of Law is offering students and faculty increased opportunities for international and global studies.”
