The University of Kentucky College of Law’s Academic Success Program begins during the summer before the first year of law school. Students are invited to participate in a three and a half day “Introduction to Legal Reasoning" course, held just before 1L orientation in August. This year the program will take place from August 12th through August 15th. The course includes classes in civil procedure, criminal law, legal writing and study skills. It focuses on preparing students for the rigors of first year law school classes.
During the fall semester, the Academic Success Program holds workshops for all 1L’s on topics such as time management, reading and briefing cases, outlining, and exam preparation. Students who need additional support are invited to participate in Academic Success workshops during the spring semester.
After graduation in the spring, UK College of Law graduates who are planning to take a bar exam are invited to participate in the Bar Preparation program, designed to provide additional support for graduates already enrolled in a commercial bar preparation course.
For more information about any of these programs, contact Jane Bloom Grisé, Director of Academic Success.
