For Alumni
Current Hiring Needs of Your Organization
Career Services offers extensive assistance to alumni employers who are in need of clerking or full-time assistance. Services offered include: on-campus interviews, résumé collection and forwarding, online job listings, job fairs and more. If your organization has current hiring needs, please visit the For Employers portion of the Career Services section of this website or contact Associate Dean Susan Steele.

Alumni Contact or Mentor
If you are willing to serve as an alumni contact or mentor to current students who are interested in your geographic area or area of practice, please contact Susan Steele or Joan Yocum in the Career Services Office. UK Law alumni have been very supportive of UK Law students and graduates. The law school, students and graduates appreciate your assistance.

Access to Online Job Postings
Career Services offers UK Law alumni access to online job postings through its computer system called Symplicity. This password-protected service is provided to alumni on a complimentary basis.

The Symplicity system requires that all jobs posted have an end date. When Career Services inputs an end date into the Symplicity system, the system automatically converts this information so that it appears as a deadline date on your view. Jobs are posted by Career Services for a 30 day period unless a deadline is otherwise indicated by the employer. Please be aware that the deadline date you see for a job posting may be the 30 day posting period, and that some employers may hire on a rolling basis so they may hire before the end of the 30 day period. If you are interested in a position, it is always a good idea to apply as soon as possible.

Career Services hopes that this information is helpful to you in your job search, and we request that you use it in accordance with our policies and procedures. To register for access to UK's Symplicity System for online job postings, please click below and complete the online registration form. Once you have submitted your registration request, please allow three business days for your password to be sent via email.

Reciprocity for Out-of-State Job Searches
If you are looking for employment outside of Kentucky, please contact Career Services and we will try to obtain reciprocity for you with a law school in the area of your job search. If reciprocity is granted, you will normally be able to access job postings from the law school in the area of your job search.

You will need a letter of reciprocity from UK Law to the law school of interest to you. According to nationwide reciprocity policies, Career Services may only obtain reciprocity for you from one law school.

If you would like for Career Services to request reciprocity for you, please send an email to Joan Yocum containing the following information: your name, your name as it was in law school if your name has changed, your email address, your home address, your cell phone number, your graduation date from UK Law, and the law school you would like us to contact to attempt to secure reciprocity. Please list 2 alternate law schools in your email, in case reciprocity is denied by the initial law school.

Intercollegiate Job Bank
UK Law Career Services participates in the online Intercollegiate Job Bank with over 130 other law schools from across the country. Participating law schools upload newsletters with job listings to this job bank. Alumni and students from participating law schools can then search the Intercollegiate Job Bank for job openings in other states. If you are a graduate of the UK College of Law and you would like to access the Intercollegiate Job Bank, please email the UK Law Career Services Office. In your email, please provide your name, your name as it was in law school if your name has changed, your email address, your home address, your cell phone number, and your graduation date from UK Law. Career Services will then supply you with the password to access the job bank. Once you have the password, please log in at https://www.law2.byu.edu/Career_Services/jobbank/.

Job Fairs
The rules of some job fairs and interview programs permit law school graduates to participate. Job fairs and interview programs where you may participate will be listed in the Job Postings area on Symplicity which is discussed above.

Employment Statistics and Salary Surveys
Career Services would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of our alumni who have participated in salary surveys in the past. Each graduating class is surveyed about employment and salary information. This information is used to assist current students assess their debt levels and employment strategies. It is also used by 3Ls and the most recent graduating class to help negotiate their starting salaries. If you are a new graduate and would like to discuss negotiating strategies, please contact Career Services for assistance.
